CADET NEWS & INFORMATION

CONGRATULATIONS -- Senior Cadet Bryan Kapes has been awarded a 4-year ROTC Scholarship to the University of Delaware.  Great Job Bryan!!!

CONGRATULATIONS -- Cadets Brad Bledsoe, Ashley Collison, and Chris Simonson for their outstanding Powerpoint presentation of the community project to the POLYTECH School Board.

CONGRATULATIONS -- Cadets Ashlyn Cohen and Will Kramer for spearheading the school Blood Drive which netted 57 pints of blood. Their efforts surpassed the previous two years' total combined (54) of pints received. GREAT JOB!

SPECIAL CONGRATULATIONS to 1st Semester Cadets for their coat donations during our Winter Coat Drive for the needy in Dover. Our goal was 30 coats to match last year's total, but the cadets surpassed the goal easily by donating 75 winter coats to be distributed by the Wesley Shelter. Thank you for supporting our community.

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT:   DE-931 cadets and National Senior Corps Kent County RSVP Volunteers completed an intergenerational project on Saturday, 23 October, National Make A Difference Day. Emergency Starter Kits for senior citizens in Kent County were assembled and distributed through 4 Senior Centers -- Frederica, Harvest Years, Milford, Modern Maturity Meals on Wheels.  Click on the link at the bottom of our Make A Difference Project page to see the deliveries.

Our special thanks to the News Journal for providing coverage of our volunteer project and to RSVP, Kent County for assisting us in distributing the kits. We would also like to express our appreciation to the following for their donations: Wal-Mart, Happy Harry's, Gymnastics Unlimited of Dover Inc., Procter & Gamble, Kraft Foods. We would also like to thank 3 special parents: Mrs. Sherrie Collison, Mr. David Hufford, and Mrs. Sharon Jarman. Without their assistance our project would not have been so successful.

The Cadets thank Ms. Pamela Atchinson, Principal, Charlton School, for allowing us the opportunity to provide some holiday cheer.  On Monday, 20 December, 2004, six  cadets from the Panther Volunteer Club visited Charlton with lots of surprises for the students there.  Each Charlton student received a signed Christmas Card, a red stocking filled with goodies, and their choice of a stuffed animal (bear or dog).    The idea to visit the  Charlton School was generated by the cadets.  The items were purchased through a candy sale fundraiser.  Cadets participating in the visit were:  Ashley Collison, Ernest Rector, Brad Bledsoe, Chris Simonson, Branden Cessna, and Aaron Thompkins.  You can view the pictures on our Cadet Volunteer Activities page.
